Half-term headache for U13s

A weekend without the pressure of a league fixture provided the U13s with a chance to test their ever growing mettle against a Beccehamian side out for revenge after their previous loss early in the season. A strong turnout from both players and supporters despite the biting cold bolstered hopes of a repeated success. However, Streatham were soon frozen out by great ruck work by the opposition as well as the fierce wind.

In a first half where Beccehamians started strongly with ferocious tackling and counter rucking limiting Streatham to brief stagnated time on the ball. With more possession and a favourable decline Beccehamians soon found space out wide and began to create opportunities. Racking up a significant advantage from strong support play down the wings and good forward play. come half time the score was 50-0 in the hosts favour.

A reshuffle and refocus come half time saw the spirit return to the side with a resolve to show the hosts what was sorely missing in the first half. First blood was drawn by Streatham with a strong run by Jamal Ryan-Coker, placed at number 8 to cover injuries combined with strong support in the following ruck leading to John crossing over for a debut try. Slowly but surely the swagger and confidence returned to the side with yards gained from quick penalties and runs from Treynae and Asaru giving showing that the boys were still up for the game. However, as tiredness set in and Beccehamians utilised a full bench they were able to run in three more unanswered tries. Final score 65-5 In summary a tough game but one from which numerous lessons were learnt , moving forward into next week's league fixture
