U14/15s pipped by Old Ruts

Playing their first game of the season, the U14/15s came out of the blocks all guns blazing. The line play from the backs was razor sharp and they were 7-0 up within 5 minutes with a well taken try by Sanjan. Charlie added the extras. Old Ruts looked shell shocked, but it wasn’t too long before they struck back with a try from their biggest player who crashed over from 2 yards.
It was not long before the boys gained the initiative again and Eli finished off a well worked try. Charlie again slotting between the sticks 14-7.
As the first half progressed, Old Ruts started to gain confidence at the breakdown, starving our boys of possession. That eventually led to Old Ruts scoring two converted tries meaning that they went into the break 21-14 up.
In the second half, Old Ruts scored first and then kept out the boys until Lawrence’s silky side stepping run and Charlie maintaining his 100% kicking brought us back to a one score game.
However, with two mins left, Old Ruts intercepted a tired passed on our 22 and ran in unopposed to seal the win. FT 35-21.
