Minis support play & teamwork wins the day

With Valentine’s day done and dusted for another year, the taggers, u9/u10 and u11 took to the road to play Southwark Tigers are located just off Old Kent Road in Camberwell.
After a combined warm up, the u9/10s played two warm-up 7 minute games in between structured drills. They won both games two tries to one and three tries to nil respectively. Their improved support play – something that the team had been working on over the last half term was beginning to pay dividends.
In the final 20 minute game, Streatham ran out comfortable winners scoring six tries to Southwark’s one. Playing as a team, offloading in the tackle and in some cases just before to a supporting runner was great to see.

The try scorers on the day
Dan I 5
Diran O 2
James W 2
Fabian B 1
Sam K 1

Special mentions
Joseph G who was injured from another sporting activity turned up to support his team.
Sam K showed that not only can he score tries but he can make them for his supporting runners- he assisted in 4 tries. His offloading game is improving every game.
Diran O has a speed to burn any defence and can use that speed to make spectacular try saving tackles.
Dan I is a great finisher and scored a hat-trick of tries in the final game
Fabian B is an elusive runner and took his try well. Joseph C and Marley L are strong tacklers and brought down players bigger than they were.
Abi M is a strong player for his age and can tackle very well and James W is well onto his way of perfecting the no look pass!
Twinkle toes Ben B could be the new Jason Robinson. He was so close to scoring an amazing try only to be thwarted when trying to ground the ball by some ferocious defending.

The U11sAbi B, Maciej R, Ciaran, and Patrick C trained with Southwark u11. They won their four aside games. All played well.

The Taggers - The SCRFC mini taggers behaved impeccably, they actively participated in the drills and games, and really demonstrated their developing skills of the game, with some great passing, catching, running scoring tries whilst thoroughly enjoying themselves. A real credit to the club.
