On a day of few positives, the team assembled to play the first u12 league game of the season against Old Wimbledonian Warriors never let their heads go down despite losing 40-0.
With only six u12 players from last season’s victorious squad turning up to play the match, the team was bolstered by two U13 and six u11 boys in order to run the fixture. With only one training season under their belts before the game, they could not cope with the well drilled OW’s.
The game was over as a contest just before half time - when OW scored 8 unanswered tries. Nevertheless the team played with courage and dignity extoling Rugby's Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportmanship. They continued to play to the final whistle despite the behaviour of some OW players and I was exceptionally proud of them.
