As the U12s squared up against an Old Cats squad that that not been beaten all season, only a good defensive performance would give them any chance of getting a result and progressing in the next round of the Chairman’s cup.
The team started spritely enough and for the first 5minutes, the game was an even contest. However Old Cats scored a try after 6 mins and before they could draw breath, they conceded 3 more tries without reply.
Following a half time team talk and a regrouping, the team held the Old Cats at bay for a few mins but they ran through three more tries, which meant that the contest was over. With 10 mins left, the boys decided to play on and suddenly, they played with the shackles off. EJ Luteke scored a well worked forwards try and Ciaran Davis ran in a well worked try from 30m.
Old Cats did score the final try of the game but they boys took heart from the ten minutes, where they did tackle and stop the opposition playing their game.
