Win books U12s into Bowl Final

In their previous game against Guildford U12B, the boys let the game slip through their fingers. A chance of redemption beckoned when they were pitted against Farnham U12Cs in the Chairman’s Bowl Competition on Mothering Sunday.
To reward their mothers for all the love and care that had been bestowed on them over the last 11-12 years, the boys finally showed attacking and defensive maturity to pull off a convincing win. And all this without some of their normal squad. However, thanks to the clubs outreach programme with Trevor Young, new players from St Joseph's College, Bishop Thomas Grant and Harris Academy, new players took their chance to represent the club for the first time.
After dominating the opening passage of play, the first try came after 5 minutes and returning Andi Aheto took 4 defenders with him over the try line.
Fergus Brennan took advantage of his ability to duck under taller players to score following a scrum 5m from Farnham’s try line.
Diran Oresanya, scored the first of his three tries thanks to the barnstorming run by EJ Luteke who off loaded to his support runner.
Farnham struck back to score their first try of the game. However, from the restart, Oresanya executed an audaciously perfect chip and catch, before beating a number of defenders to score on the stroke of half time. Half Time Score 20-10.
The second half was a much closer affair but Streatham-Croydon were not going to let the game slip away as in previous matches. The forward dominance provided by Abhinav Menon, Andi Aheto and EJ Luteke and the tackling prowess of Hamzah Haider, Patrick Craig and Dicken Mareemootoo stopped Farnham from gaining territory.
Brennan scored the first try of the second half following another run by Luteke, the score remained 25-10 until the final 5 mins when Farnham pulled a try back only for Aheto to score his trade mark try from the restart.
In the final play of the game, Oresanya recovered the ball from his own try line and made a dash down the tram line fending off a couple of defenders to score the final try of the match.
With Joseph Gallon returning to his menacing best at scrum half, successful debuts from George Adshead and Hamzah Haider, improving performances from Tyrese Leslie, Lorenzo Zilli and James Ward providing good link up play in attack as well as the last line of defence at full back, it was a convincing win for the boys who march on to play either Esher or Sutton & Epsom on 23rd April
