U13s Edged out by Richmond in epic final

With the Treasurer’s Shield at stake in the Surrey Waterfall Tournament, both Richmond and Streatham-Croydon went into this final having lost one game along the way.
With both sides evenly matched, it was always going to be a close game. Despite this, Streatham drew first blood with a 70m Jaden Wallace-Anderson solo try. That struck Richmond into action and they struck back two minutes later.
Fantastic forward play culminated in an EJ Luteke try.
Streatham took control of the game and another try from Jaden, gave them a 15-5 lead.

Then a mix up from a free kick allowed Richmond to score an easy try. 15-10
Another 70m solo effort this time from Jamal Reid made it 20-10.
Having gained the advantage, Streatham switched off and Richmond grabbed another easy try. 20-15 at half time.

Going into the second half, whoever scored first would have advantage and after two minutes, Richmond scored to level the game.20-20
A great passage of play saw both sides giving it their all. Forwards and back making great tackles despite the heat and dry ground conditions.
A good phase of passing saw Jaden score again. 25-20. Then Lorenzo Zilli wormed his way through for his try. 30-20. The game seemed under control, but energy levels started to dip and Richmond scored three unanswered tries to take the lead for the first time in the match. 30-35
They boys fought back to level the game 35-35 with 2 minutes to go but Richmond had one final throw of the dice and took their chance with what was to be the winning try. 35-40. Richmond hung on to the final whistle.
Despite the result, our boys should be proud of their efforts. It was a great final and its just a shame that we were on the losing end.
