A comfortable home bonus point win indicates a good start to 2020 for the Streatham Ladies.

Having played Ashford multiple times over the years, Streatham knew their strength against them would be in the pace in the outside channels, and therefore had a strong plan of attack to get the ball wide as quickly as possible. The start of the game was a little disjointed, with an early stoppage with an ambulance required for an Ashford front row player. Despite this hiccup, Streatham got on the scoreboard early, with some great carries from the forwards and fast hands in the backs leading to two tries in quick succession from full back Alicia 'Felicia' Wyke.

Whilst Streatham certainly attacked the space, scoring plenty of tries in the backs, coach Martin Giraud will have been delighted with the work of the forwards. Skipper and lock Paige Abbs crossed the try line twice demonstrating great pace and good support lines. There is strength in depth in the hooker position, with an excellent first half in the set piece by Rachel Dulley, and a good second half from replacement Molly Boden, who scored with her first touch from the kick off with a 50m break.

Final notable mention must be made to the forward of the match, Amelia Cole, who joined us this season and is really coming into her own in the front row. Excellent in the set piece and extremely powerful both with her carries and aggressive defence we are excited to see what else she can bring to the team for the rest of the season.

Full time score, 121-0.
