On this the first weekend of Spring, two evenly matched sides met in the semi-final of the Treasurer’s Shield cup.
With a few players on School 7s duty, some boys were given the opportunity to play in new positions. A last minute reorganisation forced upon the squad by an injury to the Fly Half during the warm up further complicated matters. That notwithstanding, the boys gave Old Wimbledon Warriors (OWW) Bs a good run for their money.
In the first half Wimbledon handled the weather conditions better opting to kick and chase. This meant that they played the majority of the game in Streatham's half.
After 6 mins Warriors pressure paid off with a well worked try in the far corner.
Streatham worked hard to get back in the game but Wimbledon defended with conviction. And just before the end of the first half, Wimbledon scored their second try to lead 0-12
Streatham were back in the game 3 minutes into the second half as the forward went up the field. The No8, EJ Luteke made a thundering run and the ball was picked up by Jaden Wallace-Anderson who fought his way to score a try. 5-12
The rest of the game was keenly contested and both sides gave it their all right up to the final whistle but no more scores came giving OWWs the win.
