The writing was on the wall fairly early in this game as Streatham never really got themselves into the grove that dominated Bec Old Boys so well just two weeks ago.
A raft of late injuries and late withdrawals really hampered Streatham's ability to play their game today, and none more so than the loss of Kai Cassemis on the morning of the game due to so last minute work commitments. Kai's presence was truly missed as Streatham experimented with playing scrum half Russell Moorcock at Fly Half position. Streatham lacked that continuity and fluidity that was so much a part of their game previously. Nothing to be taken away from the players in place, for they all battled hard, however in attack Streatham lacked the discipline to maintain their shape and often threw silly passes that almost always ended in points for the Met Police.
The match got off to a blustery start and had Opeyemi Odelusi not dropped the ball when crossing the line in the first minute of the game the scoreline would have been very different.
Without dwelling to much on the negatives, the performance of Jonnie Warner a last minute addition was commendable. Next week presents different challenges as Streatham wait to hear the results of Dan Birchmore's injury and the fate of Russell Moorcock's red card.
