High Scoring finish

Streatham produce a high scoring game as their last home game of the season

Streatham started the first half of this game with all the intent of a team now chasing the RBS 6 Nations title. 15 minutes into the game and the team had already run in three tries with the returning Elvin Grant, Captain Kai Cassemis and Jordan Staples all running in tries to give Streatham a 17 - nil lead.

However the great start soon became undone by over exuberance and the belief that the result was already put to bed. And slowly Old Ruts started to find a foothold in the match clawing their way back to score 2 well taken tries leaving the score 17 - 12 and adding to the frustration on the side lines.

And then after a couple of injuries to Jonny Korcz and Staples, Grant then decided to work off a little frustration by first going on a barn storming run which then saw him cleverly put Vinny Auguiste in for a try and then scoring in the final minute of the half himself to take the score to 27 - 15.

And then Streatham let the wheels come off by focusing more on individual performances and not playing the team patterns. The result was the influential Grant barely saw the ball again as a level of panic took hold of the team. Both teams scored early converted tries with Michael James Parker scoring Streatham's 6th and final try of the game.

Streatham still found a way to concede their customary interception try and left the supporters with a frantic 20 minutes where the result was all but decided. Some great defensive work from the likes of Jason Edwards and Andrew McCall kept Streatham in front to win the game and claim another bonus point win.

Streatham's final finishing position in the league is now completely within our own grasp with third place the target, and the two teams above representing our final two league games of the season. Streatham travel first this weekend to Merton to hopefully reverse the result just before Christmas before the play Bec Old Boys for the final game of the season on April 11th.

Man of the Match for the day was Kai Cassemis with a commanding display from Fly Half.
