Streatham travelled to Merton this week with a chance to close in on third place. Unfortunately the mental side of the game came into play with the team failing to be ready and up for the game. Merton were poor but were allowed to run freely by tackling that wasn't even close to the same standard that Streatham have shown for most of the season. And yet at the end of the first half Streatham were still in the game with the scores 12 points to 7 to Merton. Chris Geary ran in the converted try.
The second half the team started to up their game but a series of errors blighted the game and again allowed Merton to relieve the pressure and on occasion score. Several good breaks were squandered but that didn't prevent Luke Cassell from scoring his first try of the season. Ed Williams converted the try.
Man of the Match was Kai Cassemis who along with Chris Geary worked tirelessly to try to get the guys back into the game.
Streatham has a week off before they travel to Bec Old Boys on the 11th April for the final league game of the season.
