Smallest Team World Cup

A fantastic day was had by all involved at the Smallest Team World Cup at Tolworth. Organised efficiently by Racal Decca - even the sun stayed all day!
The Serpents were invited especially by our hosts and there were 4 pools with 12 teams competing.
We had a mixed side with a number making their debut and all performed superbly. We won our pool games comfortably and were through to the semi final. This was against a Welsh side called Maglor. A superb battle between two teams that were evenly matched. At full time we had to play extra time and a terrific flowing move with strong interplay between forwards and backs took Streatham 10 metres from the try line. Unfortunately, the opposition managed to steal the ball and their winger raced away just managing to touch down. Streatham did not give up and we attacked the opposition with our winger being tackled on their 5 metre line and the opposition killed the ball. Streatham had a penalty in the dying moments of extra time which the referee gave. Then suddenly after an altercation with the opposition coach he blew for full time before we had taken the penalty. We felt robbed and he apologised at a later stage to us but we did feel aggrieved but life moves on. Streatham had been playing superbly throughout and we felt we could have gone all the way.
Still, it was a fantastic day, superb performance by all the players who were involved and a terrific relaxing day Also we had the pleasure of Sir Clive Woodward's company and he came and had a long chat with us as he remembered us from the 'Grassroots Match' sponsored by Landrover. It was also an opportunity for photographs which we will publish when we receive them.
